Olympic Day

Thinking that thursday would be a normal day it wasn’t. Instead of work the hole interior school took part in a Olympic day. “Well that sound fun” my friend said to me.

The school from room 1 to room 23 had get split up into 16 teams. The 16 teams were Italy,Russia,Uganda,Mexico,Scotland,Portugal,Kenya,Argentina, Wales,Spain,Jamaica,Romania,Ireland,France, Brazil and Sweden. My team was Ireland, our leader was toko from room 21.

Our first game was against Romania in Basketball, We had to split our team into into 3 even teams of five. The first round Romania won,the next round we won, the next round it was a draw. So we had to put our best team on the court, so we could win. They put up a good battle but we just got a goal in the last minute.

My least Favorite game was sitting volleyball because you have to sit on the ground without your butt on the ground. The reason why I don’t like it is that I always get spike in the face. My Favorite game would have to be touch, I think my team was was the best even though we didn’t win I think that we were very good.

Thursday night Social

“What am I going to wear tonight” I said in my head. Should I wear a hoodie and skinny jeans or shorts and a jumper.  My sister told me just wear the hoodie and jeans.

After getting ready my mum drop me off and no one was at the door, so I went to the shop to get a Big Ben Steak and cheese Pie. As soon as I got outside of the shop one of my friends was there all dress up. We just hanged out until the doors open.

The doors open and the dancing started, there was a lot of people dancing. It was time for the first contest, it was a dougie contest. Some people were very good at this type of dance.  There was a lot of contests, a dougie battle, a cat daddy battle and azonto battle.

Thinking that we wouldn’t getting something to eat the dj told us in five minute go and get something to eat and something to drink. After having something to eat we got back up and dance the night away.

Jumping up and down waving our hands in the air like we just don’t care the DJ told us the last song is coming up. The last song was move your body by beyonce, Man that was a fun dance.
The light came on and mr burt said a pear that ended the night.

Olympic Rotation

“What activities are we going to do? It’s raining” my friend Crusader asked  me. When we got to the hall my jumper was very soggy and wet. The year 5,6,7,8’s into the hall for a mini olympics day. We all sat down and got into teams I was takitimu 4.

All the activities were around the school because we couldn’t go outside. My group only got to do 4 activities, that were cyber coach... we had to do that twice! The next activity was the obstacle course, the course was very hard in some ways and the last activity was watching the 2009 School production the Toy Shop.

Running the Cross Country

What is the activity that all schools have to do but every one dread?  CROSS COUNTRY is my enemy at school, Why it’s a very long run?. The trick is to have a steady jog and don’t drain your energy at the start. then a least you will last till the end.

Off we go the 12 year old boys run down to the brush walk. By the time we got there we couldn’t see our shoes. Slipping and sliding most falling into a puddys Likely I had balint's.

Nearly finish the race my Friends said we should finish the race together. So we ran to the finish line and my friend said stop and we will walk. I knew he was up to something.  Then he ran to the finish line, we tried to catch him but he was already there so got him and jump on him.

Valerie Adams

With disappointment all over her face, Valerie Adams was unable to defend her title.  Even though she lost she was proud of her achievements. Adam’s personal best is 21.24m and the lady from Belarus Nadzeya Ostapchuk who won the gold. she threw her personal best 21.36m.

Here is my running animation. I hope you enjoy it.

Smoking is not our Future

It’s common in many families that the parents or grandparents smoke which gives you high chance of starting smoking too.  Hopefully after reading this you will have the information you need to help you decide to never start smoking.

Smoking is bad for your health and may kill you later on in life. The day you have a smoke there are 4000 chemicals going inside of you and your body organs. There is no safe way to smoke, as these chemicals can cause . This means smoking gives you a high chance of early death!  4500-5000 people in NZ die every year because of smoking related diseases.

Did you know that if you smoke a pack a day you lose up to $105 a week? That’s a waste money if you ask me. But on the other hand if you don’t smoke you will save about more than $5000 dollars a year. My advice to you is  DON’T START SMOKING!!

Why do people our age start smoking? Teenages start smoke becuse they get influenced by their friends and family. Young adults (teenages) smoke because their friends say if you don’t smoke you're not cool but if you do smoke then you will be most popular in the school. So have a strong mind stand up to the pressures and keep away from those nasty things.

Smoking it not very good for your future. If you want to be a sports star you will have problems breathing.
Don’t start smoking  or face the consequences in the future.

Basketball is one of my favorite sports to play. I like Basketball because I can use my height in the game. My favorite place to play is by the hoop because I like to shoot the ball.

We have been learning to play Basketball for the last 2 weeks. The first week we learnt how to dribble the ball and the second week we learnt how to shoot.  I hope next week we play a real game.

Brown Brother

Joshua Iosefo is a prefect at Mt Roskill Grammar. All the prefect had to do a inspirational speech to their school. His friend Rashad put Joshua’s Brown Brother speech up on youtube and Campbell live found it.
The poem had a message to it which was don’t listen to stereotypes and don’t be ashamed to make a change. In his Poem he says don’t limit yourself into being ashamed of your people. You can be what ever you desire.
My response to this speech is that you can be what ever you want to be like a Firefighter, Lawyer, and the next John Key. I want to be a NRL superstar but if it doesn't work I will be a Firefighter. If I get to write a speech I am going to write a speech like that.

Precious McKenzie

Muscles rippling veins bulging Precious was hungry for gold. As he lifted he was thinking about his family to motivate him. Ready to lift it, he began to push, push and push until it was up in the air.

Kiwi Kick

As we walk to our destination Kiwi kick, I started to rubb my hand briskly. It was that freezing my teeth were chattering and I didn’t know how to stop it. As the ball was up in the air it flew away from me and my mate.

The skills we learnt first  was the drop punt, "it was properly the best skill I learnt". Another skill we learnt was call the hand pass, it’s the way to pass to your team mates.

Our coach's Sandwich, Anita and Mike were very good teaching as how to play the sport. The first week Mike and Sam ( Sam is short for Sandwich ) came down. Second time around Anita came with Sam." I have never learnt another skill this term".

Picasso and Matisse

Picasso and Matisse were born in the same era. Picasso was born in October 25 1881 in spain. Henri Matisse was born in December 31 1869 in France. Picasso and Matisse met in paris and became life long mate . The style Pablo Picasso became famous for was cubism whereas Henri Matisse style Fauvism
Picasso had a funny way of painting, he drew in lots of perspectives. Matisse on the other hand had a way could Fauvism. They incorporate same colors in their paintings. Matisse emerged as a post impressionist and was interested in Cubism too. Picasso emerged as a symbolist influenced by Edvard Munch.
. Do you know how to contrast the two painting the Weeping women and the women with the hat? Well I think he paintings of Picasso has more light and vibrant then Matisse has more darker colours in it. Weeping Women and the Women with the hat were weeping because the War was happening and their family had to fight for their freedom.
Looking at the line of the two different painting, Picasso lines are all over the canvas. Whereas Matisse lines were a bit curvy and a bit dark. The shape of Picasso painting there were a lot a shapes in it.

Auckland Softball Part One

Early morning jump jam was cool but that the softball boys had have breakfast before the others. The boys went into the hall nevesely to get dress. We were about to go but we didn’t know where our players were, they were in the tents getting dress.
When we hop in the car I was about to go sleep but I had to read the instruction. We got on the motorway and we lost the white van that had all our players and gear in it. Alongside the road we scream to turn on this road.
Unfortunately we got there last and we didn’t have time to warm up. Our first game was against Somerville we got a smashing from them, but if we warm up I think we could've beating them. Mansell was properly the easiest game we play we won that by lots of runs.

Picnic

Looking at the sky before school, rain smash to the ground , my mum thought the picnic wasn’t going to happen. So she rang the school and ask if it was still on, “Yes it's going to work out” the office replied. We got to school just before the bell and Mrs Burt had said the prayer. We walk as fast as we could to spin some time with our mates.

There were a lot of sport happening, Softball, ripper rugby, cricket, Volleyball, football(both of them) and swimming. Most of the day my mates and I were playing softball.Powerful and far hits my mates and I did even the girls.

I think the most fun that I saw was people sprinting down the steps to go for a swim. As I saw them having fun I wondered why didn’t I go for a swim:(, because I didn’t take a towel. I was hot that day.

Going home I felt sad that we were had to leave the beach because I wanted more time to hang with my mates. When we got to school we had free time but I had to go home. When I got home it was the time to sleep (a long one).

Cyber Smart ( think before you post)

Hank took a photo of himself and flippantly posted it online. “No worries, my account settings are set on private so no one but my friends will see this” he thought. But really, because of one untrust worthy friend, it was shown to the whole world.

He was disregarding the dangers of what was happening around. Everyone saw the picture that he uploaded and it was unbeknownst to her. Once he found out that people around the world saw his photo, he regreted it because he couldn’t delete the photo off Facebook. “What if my family sees” she said to herself.Too often these days, people post photos on face book with little thought of the consequences. WE WANT YOU...TO BE CYBER-SMART!!!
The reason why you should listen to me is because unfortunately, in the future, you might not get unemployed because of the negative footprints that you have left behind. Because of one photo that you have posted, people might think that you have a bad background and the job might not go to you.

Another reason why you shouldn’t post up photos of yourself is because other dodgy people might pick it up and try to connect with you (in a bad way). You might think that your settings are on private, but really it is not. From one press of a button, that photo will be exposed to the world. You might have to face some serious ramifications.

The last reason why you should listen to the man himself is because, when you talk about someone on face book dis respectfully, you are actually making them feel bad. The person that you are saying it to, might do some bad things to them selves because of what you said about them. If you can’t say it to their face, then don’t say it on face book or to anyone else. DON’T BE SCARED.

A Cold Day At The Beach

At the beach it was so windy it felt like a hurricane was about to hit. I stayed in the car hoping that the sun would come out again. The wind was getting stronger and stronger as the spray of the sea was hitting my windows. Looks like where going home... :(
